DuWayne Chee

DuWayne Chee possesses exceptional talent in carving highly detailed and remarkably lifelike wooden sculptures. He is the younger brother of renowned carver, Raymond Chee, who has been an important influence in his life. Both Chee brothers are fantastic carvers. Coming from both Navajo and Hopi heritage, they explore artistic themes from both tribes, as well as other Native American stories, figures, and motifs. They are some of the very few who will carve Navajo sculptures, like the Yei Be Chai dancers.

The colors, the motion, and the intricacy of the carving makes DuWayne a highly sought-after artist. He is a humble and soft-spoken man with a smile that lights up the room.

The Chee family is full of talent. His son, DuWayne Chee Jr., has followed in his footsteps and is now creating beautiful wooden sculptures as well. His other son, Ryan Chee, is a wonderful jeweler.
